This recipe is one of the winning recipes from the Family Fave Recipe Contest, Canada Beef 50th anniverary contest.
This recipe from Rita Copat of Mississauga, Ontario, is a winner of the Family Favourite Recipe Contest held in celebration of the 50th year of Canada Beef. Rita’s family recipe originated with her mom who emigrated to Canada in the 1970s from Lebanon. Rita has made them since moving out on her own in 2013 and has adapted the recipe over the years to make them her own by modifying them into an open-faced meat pie. As well, she often changes up the flavourings to suit her family’s tastes, such as adding shredded cheese on top – not traditional but her kids enjoy it! Rita suggests making them in bulk to freeze for a grab-and-go meal.
